For more than 20 years, the Howard County Police Foundation and Police Department have worked together to ensure that many of of our county’s disadvantaged youth have a happy holiday season. Children in grades K-5 who are often homeless or whose families are struggling to make ends meet, are invited to attend a holiday party every December sponsored by the foundation. They celebrate the season with officers playing games and doing crafts. The children enjoy a warm meal and are given a holiday present containing winter necessities plus a craft and toy.
The Youth Division held its annual holiday party on Saturday, December 9, full of dancing, crafts, food, gifts, and a special visit from Santa! Guidance counselors from 17 elementary schools in the county selected the children to invite, and our officers, cadets and explorers had a blast dancing and interacting with them!
Thanks to our generous sponsors and donors, we were able to provide each child with a toy, coat, toiletries and hats/gloves.
